3 Exceptional Tips to Become a Good Soccer Goalie

June 21st, 2010

If you want to become a good soccer goalie,I’m going to tell you right now, the path is not short or smooth. There will be obstacles in your way, you will encounter failures, and it’s going to involve a lot of hard work. But if you’re committed to become a good soccer goalie, then this advice should only inspire you.

We all have the potential to become better at soccer (or anything in life for that matter), but it isn’t going to come easy. So if this had turned you off, you may as well close this tab and go watch music videos on YouTube (this isn’t for the weak of heart).

Here are 3 tips to become a good soccer goalie:

1) Be Courageous

This is probably the most prominent characteristic of great soccer goalkeepers. You’re going to have to be brave and courageous if you’re going to have balls kicked at you every time you step on the pitch. You’re going to have to put your body on the line. Do anything necessary to keep the ball out of your net. Even if it means taking a point blank shot in the face; the ball going into your net should be more painful than getting a nice smack with a cold soccer ball.

2) Be Determined

If you want to become a good soccer goalie, it’s going to take commitment, hard work, and determination. While your friends are out chasing girls (or boys), or playing video games, you’re going to be practicing your shot stopping or positioning. If the thought of this turns you off, maybe you’re not cut out for this job. However, if you’re passionate about soccer, every chance you have to improve your skills a goalkeeper should inspire and excite you.

3) Be Intelligent

You will save a lot of energy, simply by being a smart goalkeeper. You will have to learn what it the best goalkeeping method to apply in different situations. This will come with experience, but if you want to become a more intelligent soccer goalie, why not learn from the best. By watching professional goalies you can learn what to do in different situations. Apply their tactics and techniques to your game, until you make it your own. That’s the fast track to success.

If you learn to develop these characteristics you will have success as a soccer goalkeeper. Keep working hard, be committed, and soon you will become a good soccer goalie.

Soccer Goal – Reasons to Buy One For Personal Use

June 18th, 2010
If you love soccer, you’re going to want a soccer goal installed where you can practice to your heart’s content. While you can practice on the field, having one in your backyard is convenient. Maybe you have a team of budding soccer stars under your roof, or perhaps you just like to relax on the weekends playing by yourself. Some may love soccer so much that they need a portable goal for camping trips and family events. Whatever your dedication level, you need to know a few facts before you set out to purchase one.

Buying a soccer goal should be exciting, fun and educational. It should be educational because you will find out about the different materials, manufacturers and sizes available. Smaller goals are available for pee-wee stars while full sized structures are made for professional training. Maybe you have a space in your home large enough to use an indoor goal. So, what do you intend on using the goal for? You will have to ask yourself this question before going out to purchase a goal.

If you want to buy a soccer goal, you’ll have to think of accessories. Goals are made from a sturdy post and a net. Often, it will have to be anchored down with rope. These items can break, crack or just need replacement after a number of uses. Once you know how you intend to use the goal, you’ll know which one to buy as well as any necessary accessories.

On top the soccer goal made for games, there are a number of practice goals as well. Some are target goals made for players to practice on by themselves without a goalie. Others have no net at all, which are called recreational goals. You will see these on playing fields often as they are inexpensive to maintain. Next, you’ll have to consider if you want a permanent goal installed in your yard. You may love soccer, but if you intend on selling your home in the future you will have to pay to have to uninstalled and moved.

So, where is a good place to find a soccer goal? You will probably want to look at specialized store that cater to soccer players first. They will have the best variety, knowledgeable sales persons and money back guarantees. Ask plenty of questions, get feedback and take some time before you purchase a goal. Another place you can look is in classifieds and at yard sales. Believe it or not, other people own goals too. Their kids may have gone off to college or they may be moving. Whatever the reason, you can definitely benefit from buying a slightly used goal.

Settling on a soccer goal will probably be hard. You may want a professional regulation sized goal, but only have the space for a smaller variety. You may want to turn the basement into a mini soccer field, but your roommate has already turned it into a home gym. Just know that whatever goal you end up getting will give you a great outlet to relax and practice for years.

Soccer goal 101 is a blog with a wealth of information on this subject. When buying a soccer goal for your own personal use, be wary of the price range and quality of what you are looking at.

Free Soccer Drills – 3 Action Ideas to a Great Program

June 12th, 2010

An easy way to explain to the players about the role of free soccer drills. There are no set rules. As a coach, you are free to experiment, innovate, and make your own drills and games.

For your own specific requirements the existing soccer exercises can be altered. For starters I have shared my experiences for forming a creative soccer training program.

Your plan shouldn’t be rigid. It is natural that all your plans may not work out as desired. The kids will fall sick or may not turn up if it rains. Make sure you have adequately covered all the potential
obstructers.

It works well to have several soccer practice games ready. If there is any delay in executing the plan you can go to the next item by deleting it. You can learn what works with the kids by going along with them.

All the kids should warm up before any practice session. The kids should use the soccer ball apart from using regular soccer skills to warm up their body. The kids can rotate the ball between their feet’s; kick the ball back and forth using their feet.

The free soccer drills used for warming up are designed with a fun element and are available in plenty.

It’s pertinent every player has access to a soccer ball. Plan for several activities which are individualistic in nature; which can be performed using the ball. The players should involve in activities such as shooting, dribbling and hitting the ball against the wall etc. In order to prevent any restriction in movement of the players avoid using any lines or marks.

The players in soccer coaching should be indulged in group activities upon completion of the individual activities. There is a lot of fun in drills like passing and receiving the balls. Let the kids play soccer in teams and without a goalkeeper. Let them hit the goals and do not set boundaries for this game.

Upon learning to attack the players should be taught how to defend. This will give them a free hand in developing their own unique style. During this drill groups of teams should be formed by the players.

Usually, when shifting from individual to group activities, the kids take time to adjust to the concept of team play. A coach plays a guiding role here.

Make them realize the concept of interdependence to win matches. The players learn to work as a team, practice in a limited area while not doing much the ball, this is the biggest impact of this drill.

Handling soccer exercise in this way is the easiest. Have an open idea to mix and add couple of free soccer drills that you think will make the kids learn soccer better.

June 10th, 2010

The 2010 FIFA World Cup will take place in South Africa this year. 32 nations have qualified for the World Cup finals. If you live in one of those lucky nations that have qualified for the World Cup you will want to support your nation in every possible way. Soccer jerseys are a great way to support your nation.

Every 4 years the World Cup is hosted by a different nation. The nation gets to qualify automatically into the final 32. The number of viewers of this cup event is in the hundreds of millions. People who live in a country that has qualified into the cup event, love supporting their team every step of the way.

As teams progress further and further into the latter stages of the competition, the buzz in the air of a country that has reached these stages just goes through the roof. Countries that didn’t make the finals still end up watching the amazing matches and get behind a team that they love.

Teams this year are sporting newly designed soccer jerseys. There are both home and away designs and each country has their own stunning design for their soccer jersey. Expressing support for your country is easy by getting hold of your own country’s soccer jersey. If you are daring enough you can even get behind a country that you just love watching.

Soccer jerseys are made by many famous manufacturers such as Nike and Adidas. They are made of very high quality material and will last for many years. You can go one step further to supporting your country, by travelling to South Africa and watching the games live sporting your new soccer jersey.

For many, wearing your soccer jersey in front of a large TV with a large number of people is the way to go. If your team wins that match you are watching then your soccer jersey will be worth a lot more.

The official world cup jerseys will be very expensive, but you can be rest assured that the cost can be justified. You are getting something of high quality and official.

You can go even as far as purchasing a particular individual’s jersey with their name and number attached to it. Sporting greats like Harry Kewell for Australia will have soccer jerseys available for purchase.

The best way to get your 2010 FIFA World Cup soccer jerseys will be to go online and purchase them there. They offer a large amount of stock of all different sizes. You can shop online in the comfort of your own home and purchase a jersey to support your country.

This is the best time to buy world cup jerseys because the World Cup kicks off on the 11th of June 2010 and ends on the 11th of July 2010. For me, since I am Australian, I will be sporting the World Cup Jersey for Australia. I am with them all the way.

This year Australia has qualified into Group D. They will be playing Germany first. Ghana and Serbia are also in the same group as them. I will be wearing my jersey and supporting my favourite team every step of the way.

In the previous World Cup which was won by Italy, thousands and thousands of jerseys were sold to the general public and nearly every one of these people sported these jerseys while watching their favourite team play.

In conclusion, grab a soccer jersey online today and support your team in this year’s amazing 2010 FIFA World Cup. I will be rooting for Australia and I hope they progress further than they did back in 2006.
